RIDE FOR CHALLENGE – 001

On January 29, 2023, cycling enthusiasts from different parts of Cebu gathered together to participate in the RIDE FOR CHALLENGE – 001 event. The event, which started at the South Coast Center in Linao, Talisay, aimed to test the endurance and skills of the participants as they traverse through various terrains and uphill climbs.

The route took the participants to Naga Uling, then to Toledo, Balamban, and finally to the Cebu Transcentral Highway before ending at Ayala Heights. It was a grueling 95-kilometer route that required the riders to tackle steep inclines, winding roads, and rough terrain.
Despite the challenging conditions, the participants pushed themselves to the limit and displayed incredible determination and grit. Many of them had been training for months to prepare for the event, and their hard work paid off as they conquered the tough course.

But the Uphill Challenge wasn’t just about testing the participants’ cycling abilities. It was also for a cause. The event aimed to raise funds for May Anne Mares, a known cyclist and triathlete in Cebu who was suffering from a serious health condition. Participants and sponsors donated generously to support May Anne and her family.
The RIDE FOR CHALLENGE-001 was not just a test of physical strength but also a testament to the kindness and generosity of the cycling community. Participants and organizers worked together to make the event a success and to help someone in need.

As the riders crossed the finish line at Ayala Heights, they were greeted with cheers and applause from the crowd. They had achieved something remarkable, both in terms of their cycling prowess and their efforts to make a difference in someone’s life.

In the end, the Challenge was a reminder that we can all do something to make a positive impact on the world. Whether it’s through our skills, our resources, or our time, we can all contribute to a cause that matters to us. And who knows? Maybe the next challenge we face won’t be uphill, but it will be just as rewarding and just as worthwhile.
A special thanks to Uban ta Bai’ke organization for making this event possible! To all the sponsors who gave their full support for the event. To the cycling community of Cebu, athletes, and photographers who shared their time and effort in the making of this event. THANK YOU!
